The Swiss tour operator Hotelplan Suisse draws a positive balance for the 2016/2017 financial year. The current 2017/2018 winter season has also got off to a very good start and the first bookings for the 2018 summer offer just launched confirm this trend. In the individual travel sector, Scandinavia is expected to be the winner, and in the long-haul sector, the USA and Canada and cruises are likely to be among the top three summer trends for 2018. Hotelplan is publishing a new river cruise catalog in partnership with Thurgau Travel.
Hotelplan Suisse can draw a positive balance for the 2016/2017 financial year (November 1, 2016, to October 31, 2017). For the current winter season, the Canary Islands are in great demand for short and medium-haul routes. After last year’s dry spell, there is growing demand for Egypt as a destination due to terrorist attacks. In the long-haul segment, destinations such as the Indian Ocean, Southern Africa, and the Orient are in fashion this winter 2017/2018.
The outlook for the 2018 summer season
For the coming 2018 summer season, the first signs are showing that early bookings are once again on the rise: Tunisia turns out to be a clear summer trend for 2018. Reservations for Cyprus and the Greek Islands have also started very well. After Spain was one of the top destinations in summer and autumn 2017, Hotelplan Suisse expects another boom for the Spanish islands in summer 2018. By contrast, southern Turkey has not yet recovered this year either and is in the double-digit percentage range in the minus. In the individual travel sector, Scandinavia is expected to be the winner, and in the long-haul sector, the USA and Canada and cruises are likely to be among the top three summer trends for 2018.
“It makes us optimistic that Hotelplan Suisse is in both revenue and passenger growth. This shows that clients are not deterred from traveling by external factors such as terrorist attacks or natural disasters,” says Kurt Eberhard, CEO Hotelplan Suisse. “We are also proud to be able to serve a new niche market for ski enthusiasts with powder finder,” he adds.
